Hello All,

I have just installed Subsonic, setup the static ip and manually configured port forwarding on the router to port 8081 .
I am able to log into Subsonic on my local machine using both http://localhost:8081/ & my easy-to-remember address xxxx.subsonic.org. But on the network settings page in Subsonic just below my subsonic address i get the following error:

Status: xxxx.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

I am also not able connect to my server via the android app but the demo server works fine.

Any suggestions? Thanks in Advance.

Test your port (8081) at canyouseeme.org . I suspect it's not open, and you may need to reconfigure it, reboot your router, and test as above, again.

Thanks for the link. When I tested it I received the following error from canyouseeme.org:
I could not see your service on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port (8081). Reason Connection timed out.

I checked the windows 7 firewall and even though it had rules already set for Subsonic, I went ahead and created 2 new rules: one for TCP for port 8081 & one for UDP for port 8081.

This time when I tested it, canyouseeme.org reported a Success and now Subsonic is working!

My question now is whether or not adding those two rules for port 8081 was the correct/safest/best method or should i have done something else?

You can remove the UDP one, but the TCP one is fine.

I always would rather open ports than programs... especially for a program that uses so few (one or two at the most) like Subsonic.

HTH,

Glenn

UDP rule removed. Subsonic server up, running & streaming music to my android devices!

Thank you both for the info.
