I have this problem too. I have a clean install of Ubuntu 11.04. I downloaded the Subsonic installer today and opened it with "Ubuntu Software Center". I get "This package is of bad quality. Details: The package doesn't provide a valid Installed-Size control field. See Debian Policy 5.6.20."
Hardware:
AMD X2 260 (64-bit)
4GB RAM

ok - i am completely new to subsonic, but thats exactly what i am looking at :(
so, is there any solution for it yet? i am a happy kplaylist user thought trying sth new - looks good in the demo etc.... looking at that just trying to install is a bit of a downer!
than again there must be some kind of solution! otherwise, why do i get subsonic recommended!?
the documentation is not exactly great - i know, it is nowhere (same with kplay)....
but hello, sb out there to give us a hint about this install error... its supposed to be all smooth there and than you start fiddling....

The installation instructions for Ubuntu are here: http://subsonic.org/pages/installation.jsp#debian

Last time I checked it installed fine on Ubuntu 11.04

Hope this helps,
Sindre

took some fiddeling around, but worked - thx. now i have my issues still with getting it stable to run (playing around with memory allocation anywhere between the "standard" 120mb and 2048mb) - seems to be hit and miss, sometimes it starts up just fine (once it does - it runs without prob), other times i just get "out of memory" errors??? nothing changed in my setup. kinda annoying still.
beside all that - one other major issue i have with ss, when it is running - why the heck can't i search by genres???? i had that with aba for kplaylist, he finally implanted the feature, it can't be that hard - its allready there, just implement into the search options (maybe it is - i have no clue about programming!) but it is a major set-back for big collections!
beside all this, i really like subsonic. yes, i do - i wouldn't bitch around, if i dont care ;)
and while we are at bitching around - is there an easy way to change the width of the "columns" - like left-right-center???

anyway, so far - nice job! i like it....
thx, keep it up,
lsdeep
