The error quoted in the subject line of this post appears in many places across the internet. However no solutions ever materialize from the conversations that are had, or the solutions are not relevant to my (seemingly very simple) problem.

All I want to do is to play vob files! I've upgraded to a paid membership so video playback _should_ be enabled. I don't store my movies in avi or mp4 or flv or xvid or whatever. I don't rip them. I have mounted DVDs, or I have ISO files that I mount via the linux mount command (mount -o loop FOO.iso /path/to/mountpoint #inside registered music folder)

What is the deal?

Please don't flame me; I've been scouring the internet for over 3 hours trying to fix this on my own.

I have seen some topics discussing the use of VOB files, but I'm not too sure how much success was achieved. In any event, SS is not really designed to be used with VOB's. It's much better suited to mp4 or flv files for video playback. Any files that require on-the-fly transcoding are going to take a lot of cpu power and bog down throughput. Preformatting files into the aforementioned formats allows them to play directly in JW Player without transcoding. I've written numerous posts regarding video playback with SS. Bring up my profile and click on search all posts to find them.
