Dodgy 3G connection ...

Hi there everyone,

On my droid, when using Opera, I can connect to the server just fine by doing something like:

https://my_static_address:my_port
all good.
This same url works from a remote PC.
Great

Now, if I use this url in the subsonic android app, it does not connect... ???
If I use this url with the built in android navigator, it also complains (only Opera for android manages to connect over 3G, but it can connect).

Kind Regards

Use the http address. Once it connects to SS it will automatically use the https connection.

Hi there Gary,

on my remote PC, yes, the http address automatically resolves to the https one, and all is well.

SSapp via 3G & http -> "Connection Failure. didn't understand the reply"

now, if that can help you :

http://xxx.subsonic.org gets the same "didn't understand the reply" error

while

https://myStaticAddress gets "A network error occurred."

Hope that helps
(I rebooted both the server pc and the rooter just in case, no luck)

Go to http://www.canyouseeme.org/ enter your SS port number and click the Check box to be sure the Subsonic port is open.

Check both http and https ports.

http: ok
https: ok

I am not surprised as from the droid, using the Opera browser

http://xxx.subsonic.org resolves to the https address, and I can connect to the SS server.

Cheers

but the droid app still won't connect

Uninstall the app. Reboot the phone then reinstall the SS app from the market.

Hello there,

so, it seems I can connect from my phone to other severs but my server.
And others phones can connect to my server but my phone.

:?

I often get a retry or two when I try to connect to other servers, even when I connect to mine over wifi... is that normal ?

Is there a verbose log somewhere on the phone so that I can try to investigate deeper ?

Talking about log, I just had a look at the server log, I have zillions of lines like

Is somebody trying to hack me or what ?
Cheers

Doubt it...it looks like a simple failed login-request, since it appears to recur every 10 seconds (roughly, latency). I don't know how long the attempts retry, but so long as they're isolated and correspond with you and others researching your access problem, I wouldn't worry. :)
