Subsonic Forum

I've been having problems connecting to my Subsonic server from the Android app so I did some searching around. There are a plethora of forum discussions about not being able to connect to the name.subsonic.org server from inside the home or something like that, but none of them are relevant to my situation.

When at home, I can connect to localip:port in the app and in a web browser. My music streams and all is good.

When I am not at home, I can connect to externalip:port in my web browser and listen to my music through the web interface (I'm doing that right now actually). When I try to connect to externalip:port in the app, however, it cannot make the connection. I get "network error 1 of 4 retries"

Any clue what might be going on?

Trial or paid? Does the Subsonic.org url work? Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling?

I have no subsonic.org url. I am trying to connect directly to the ip address. Is this blocked for some reason? Later I'll try registering for a subsonic.org url but I'd prefer to use my own.

The SS.org url is just another troubleshooting step to see where the hangup may lay, it's not required, and using your own is fine. The app itself is a trial, but IIRC it's supposed to time out and prompt to purchase. If it has not, maybe a corrupt install, so I'd try a reinstall first. Does the Demo server work okay?

I re-installed the app and everything works fine now! Thanks for the help.
