Set up Help

I have recently installed SS (4.4) on a Windows XP machine. I used this guide http://monroeworld.com/android/subsonic/. Now I am having just a few problems.

I have a laptop and android phone that I am trying to get to connect. I was able to set up a Static IP and port forwarding without too many issues. I tried to use name.subsonic.org to connect, but that will not work for either the laptop or the phone. However, if I use the Static IP:Port #, I can connect. Also, I don't seem to be able to connect over 3G. I am able to connect to the demo server over 3G, but not my own.

I went to http://yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ (which I saw suggested while looking for answers). I tested my port (4040) and it says "that the port is closed on (external IP Address)". I changed the port to 8080 and 8081 to see if that made a difference, but that didn't do anything.

Also, I got to the part of the set up walkthrough where it says "Click DON"T SHOW THIS AGAIN". Now I am unable to find a way to add more users or the other settings that were located in that section. Under Settings, I only have "Personal" "Password" and "Players" listed.

I am sorry if this is a long post. I tried to include as much information about my problems as possible. I have done a lot of googling and searching through these forums to find answers, but haven't come up with a whole lot.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Your port opening is not working. Retry, reboot the router, and continue to test with canyouseeme.org for your port number until you get success. :)

Thanks for the help. After reseting the router and double checking the port forwarding, I realized I had forgotten a step and I can now access SS via the name.subsonic.org from my laptop and my phone over 3G.

I am still unsure how to get back to the settings screen after clicking "DON'T SHOW THIS AGAIN". If anyone has insight into that I would appreciate it.

You will have to be logged in with an admin account to see the settings page. Are you logging in with the admin account?

Now I feel kind of dumb. I thought I had set up the account I am mainly using as admin, but I guess I didn't. I had set up a second account during the set up process and gave it admin rights. I now have everything working as it should.

I greatly appreciate all of the help :D
