Problems installing to transcode folder

I recently installed Subsonic 4.4 Standalone onto a desktop running ArchLinux. I used pacman to install LAME and ffmpeg, but I can't transcode video or downsample music (rendering my phone useless due to low bandwidth haha). I read that you're supposed to install these programs to the transcode folder within SUBSONIC_HOME (which I would assume is the directory where Subsonic is installed), but I don't know how to do this.

My question: how do I install ffmpeg and LAME from source into the transcode directory?

Thanks for the help, guys ^_^

Just use symbolic links so that they are in /var/subsonic/transcode rather than actually installing them there.

ln -s <fileToBeLinked> <NewLocation>

example if lame exists as /usr/bin/lame

ln -s /usr/bin/lame /var/subsonic/transcode/lame

Make sure the user you run the command as has correct privileges on the transcode directory
