Hi,

Apologies for asking as no doubt this is asked over and over again however can anyone advise how to go about configuring Subsonic for streaming MP4 etc. etc. from a PC to an Android device please?

Cannot find a Video folder only a Music folder to add on the Subsonic web-interface that's running on local-host.

Is video streaming a feature on a paid-for license only and not on a demo version?

You add your videos just as you would add a music folder in: Settings - Music Folders, then point to the folder containing your videos, tick the "Enabled" box next to the new videos folder and save.

i have not made any changes to the default transcoding and i think that should do for you as well. Just enable mp4 > flv in the active transcodings by going to Settings - Players.

SS will require a licence for all the added features and benefits like connecting from an android mobile, yourown.subsonic.org domain name and the licence is for life. It's a very modest fee that is more than worth what you will get out of it in my opinion.

Shall run through what you've mentioned.
SS does seem to be a fully featured piece of software admittedly. Particularly from just going through some of the settings in the web-interface.

Been using Gmote which I think is great however have found that it's very particular where streaming videos are concerned.

Any ideas whether there's a download that can analyse an MP4 for arguments sake and advise bit-rate, sample-rate etc. etc.?

Managed to successfully stream only the MP4 videos that I'd originally downloaded from my Nokia 5800 however none of the MP4 videos that I've tried to stream otherwise stream without constant buffering.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to get around this please?

MP3 audio however seems to stream very well. Like this Software / App quite a lot and am seriously considering donating something to support SS.

Best post the last 10 or so log lines from subsonic.log shown in the "help" /"about" tab in the webUI.

That way you we can examine the ffmpeg output, maybe theres just some header stuff in a quirky format that makes ffmpeg go through too many hoops to stream/transcode.

Sorry i havent checked the forum for a few days. I am glad you have made some progress. The video issue could be down to various local issues. Like 3R3 said post your logs on here to look for any clues. Also, try to reduce the kbps to 500 or something like that and see if that makes a difference. I have a low internet uplink and can't stream videos at a higher kbps and thats not subsonics fault
