Best Video Converter / Ripper For Mac

I have been using Handbrake for the Mac to convert my videos and been getting errors when I go to play my videos through Subsonic.

Sindre was nice enough to help me out and he suggested that Handbrake and the way its converting the videos the java player doesn't like it all that much (access denied / video not found error). He suggested I do a test and download a video he knew worked, and sure enough, it played fine. So there must be something wrong with the settings in Handbrake that Im using.

If anyone uses or would know the settings for Handbrake that work, that would be greatly appreciated, as I like the program and it seems to convert video well.

BTW, is there a set of settings that are in place for the video to be able to be played through subsonic java player? Im convinced that Handbrake is fine, and its just a setting or two that I need to adjust.

Beyond that, if anyone knows of the best converter to use on the Mac platform, any suggestions would also be welcomed.

Thanks in advance for your time and help

EB

I use AVS Converter. No problems so far.

You might be able to get Handbrake working if you know how to configure it. Here's what JW likes to see:

Gary,

I actually did get it working with a video ripped with HandBrake. One of the other community members, Brian helped me out. The ONLY way to get it working, was with transcoding OFF. But it did work.

The thing Im a bit baffled about is Sindre was also helping me and suggested I download a video from NASA. It was an mp4 files and that one was able to play with transcoding ON. A closer look at the file told me that it was ripped with something called lavf52. Im unsure if thats a method of ripping or a software application (still researching it). So Im thinking it maybe something to so with the way its being ripped?

Thanks so much for the link, I will look at that also. Its greatly appreciated
