TimeOut Issue

Postby anjenaire » Wed May 11, 2011 3:08 pm

I am running Subsonic via a Vortexbox and I have an instance on my Windows 7 PC. I am having issues reaching the Fedora based Subsonic from my work location (VB). Thinking that they might be blocking the known port of 4040, I changed it to 6960 on the VB. I have had no issue with the Windows 7 box at work using port 6955. Comes right up. The Linux box times out. Not at Starbucks, but here at work. Again, since the ports don't seem to be blocked, anyone have a suggestion to fix the time out issues? My router ports are forwarded correctly.

Error message from our proxy server:

Possible Causes:

The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

The Web Server may have refused your connection.

Some Web Servers require 128-bit connection security; verify if the page address should have HTTP:// or HTTPS:// in front of it

If all external Web Servers are not working there may be an issue with the connection to the Internet

If all internal and external Web Servers are not working there may be Network or Proxy Server issues

Thanks for any guidance.

Proxy Not Allowed

Postby anjenaire » Wed May 18, 2011 12:16 am

No joy with proxy (not allowed at work). I can get to the subsonic at other locations remotely from home network. And I can get to my home network from work and talk to my windows PC. Https didn't help. I am thinking it is some hand shake that the vortexbox doesn't recognize or since I have to go through the work firewall proxy it times out and the message comes up. I will try and ping the address tomorrow from work and see what comes up.

No (Pa)ping happiness

Postby anjenaire » Wed May 18, 2011 12:26 pm

Still strange behavior. I can't ping individual ports but using paping I am able to try. I can't connect to the Windows machine through paping or the linux box but the Windows SS does come up in my browser window. Linux continues to time out. I would think I should be able to connect to the port via paing if I can get to the SS instance. time out. time out. Out of ideas.
