Hi, just trying to set a new level of noobness here:

Problem: Cannot find subsonic control panel
System: Linux Ubuntu
Steps taken: installed the subsonic package, it gives me

Package 'subsonic-4.4.deb.' was installed

Now i want to open it but theres nothing like a systray icon. I am absolutely new to linux and might have hidden the whole systray or do i need to do sth else beforehand?

Ok, so i dont know if youre all just chuckling away in your admin-thrones or if i just posed the question wrong. Thing is, i need to change the ports subsonic uses and i dont know how to do that others than via the panel (which hides in linux wonderland, probably sipping a chilled chapirinha at the pool next to my slightly fucked up xbox NAT).
any ideas?

Hi,

1. did you start subsonic already ?
In the terminal (konsole) as root: ./subsonic.sh
In the right directory :-)

2. by default it's using port 4040
So in your browser : http://localhost:4040 should give you the subsonic screen

If you need anoter port you need to edit subsonic.sh in the top part where you can read the various settings.

Hope it helps

Henning

Incorrect sir... he installed from the debian package, so there's no sh. He needs to edit /var/subsonic/subsonic.properties

Thats what i was looking for, thanks. But..
I did edit that, set the port to 8081, restarted the router, restarted subsonic, but its still reachable only at localhost:4040. Do i need to change sth else for the port to change?
Also I unchecked "automatic port forwarding" in settings and saved.
