How can I make downsampling output in mono?

I would like to be able to listen to music in mono
when streaming from a remote place and in full
quality when home.

I found out that Lame
  • is used for downsampling
  • can convert to mono with "-a"
But I didn't find a rule for the default downsampling
on the transcoding page. Is there a way to
pass "-a" to Lame by default for downsampling
(but not in "original-quality" mode)?

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

The lame arguments for downsampling is currently not exposed to the end-user, so you can't change it (without modifying the source code and recompile).

I'll consider making it configurable in a future version.

Thanks,

Sounds good, thank you!

Hi Sindre,

Did this request for making mono configurable ever get implemented? I'm deaf in one ear so it would be really handy for listening via headphones?

Must say thanks for making such a great piece of software as Subsonic! :-)

Hi Ty,

Yes it did. Please take a look at Settings > Advanced > Downsample command. I think adding "-m m" will produce mono output.

Check out http://lame.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checko ... lame/USAGE for a complete reference of the lame command line arguments.

Hope this helps :-)

Hi,

Does anyone know how I can setup Subsonic so that all of my output is mono? I'm sure I managed to get this to work, but have lost my settings somewhere along the way, and despite trying to recreate them I just can't get it right.

So frustrating as I can only hear half the music.... :(
