Hi All, I'm still trying to get my Subsonic working correctly to be able to play to my original Droid.

I've followed the guide found http://monroeworld.com/android/subsonic/ but still run into errors with port forwarding on my router. I've downloaded the program, donated, registered my domain name, have my music listed, done a local play test (listening to it right now, actually). I can't get into my media PC from outside my network though. I've tried with my Android and from another computer through myusername.subsonic.org unsuccessfully. On my cell, I can see DNS change the URL to my WAN IP address with port # on the end of it (I have it set to 8089).

I've tried using a virtual server and port forwarding on my D-link 655 to no success. For Virtual server, I have a rule for program Subsonic, my PC's IP address (I'm still on DHCP but gave this box's MAC an exception to keep its IP), allow both TCP and UDP on port 8089. Same information for a port-forwarding rule, no success.

Does anyone have this type of router or suggestions on what to try? I feel I've checked everything and this should be working now, or there's one little thing I haven't thought of that's causing my frustration. Thank you in advance, any help is appreciated!

I just fixed my problem with forwarding and it had to deal with dual NAT layers. One from the router and the other from the modem.

Let me ask you a few Q's.
1 - What error are you getting when you go to canyouseeme.org?
2 - Is your modem one of those that can be used as a router?

I tried changing all information to port 8080, saw my D-link used it for remote admin, changed everything to 8081, but still the same problems in both examples.

In answer to your questions
"Error: I could not see your service on XXX.227.206.155 on port (8081)
Reason: Connection timed out"

The modem, to my knowledge is just a modem. I'm on Comcast BLAST! DOCSIS 3.0, the router is a Ubee brand with just Coax input and RJ45 output.

I have a Ubee brand as well. Here is what I did.

1 - Go to your router settings and set it to bridge mode.
2 - Go to your router's IP address in the browser. Should be something like 192.168.0.1. User name and pass are both "user"
3 - Click on the "Gateway" tab
4 - Click on "Forwarding" from the left hand menu.
5 - Forward your ports from there. Take a look at this screen as a guide. http://portforward.com/routergui/Ubee/U ... arding.htm

Notice how the screen shows the port number entered a total of 3 times.

You should be all set up after that.

Of Course, I am assuming you have set your host pc to use a static IP. You may need to change that static IP to match the group of numbers this ubee modem provides.

Under Ubee you can go to DHCP on the left side menu and determine what IP's are used for dynamic IPs. It's set by default to go from 1-255. I changed it to 1-20 by inserting 19 in the box labeled "Number of CPEs". (1 + 19 = 20)

Then I set the static IP on my computer to 192.168.0.xx. As long as "xx" is greater than 20.

1. Where do you see bridge mode? Are you referring to the cable modem or the router?
3. I don't have a gateway tab.
4. However, I do have an advanced tab across the top, then with a port forwarding option on the left side

I have my PC and my router still set to DHCP. I have set an exception for this machine's MAC to always use a specific IP address (192.168.0.100).

Sorry, I just noticed an error in one of my previous posts. The MODEM is a Ubee, the router is a Dlink DIR-655

You need to put your DLink router to bridge mode. Although, I would try to do the port forwarding on the Ubee first. It may work on it like that.

As for the gateway tab, yeah...just use the advanced tab. The point is to get to the port forwarding option anyways.

Also, You need to locate the DHCP link. That's were you are going to change your dynamic IP range so that your Static IP falls outside of that range.

I realized what you meant. I have the same set up, except with a Time Capsule.

So I just googled it, and found something from Dlink saying the 655 doesn't have a bridge mode.

I think the IP addressing in the router is setup fine. At least for the time being for troubleshooting purposes. I want to figure out the forwarding nonsense first

Ah good, thanks for catching my mistake. How do you get into your Ubee mgmt page? I haven't done it since I upgraded my ISP service a long while ago.

Ubee management page? I thought you were already in it? Go to http://192.168.0.1 on your browser. Username and pass are "user"

192.168.0.1 is my Dlink router. Cable Wall plate > Ubee Cable Modem > RJ45 > Dlink Wireless Router > Ethernet Patch cable > This Computer

hmm...weird. It should have been 1. Try another number.

It may be that you DON'T have NAT on your Ubee modem and that it IS just a modem.

You have set port forwarding on your DLink, right? If you have, and are still getting the timed out error then it's 1 of two things. Either a firewall on the host pc blocking it or the Ubee needs to be configured to forward the ports.

It has to be the Ubee. It is just a modem, I just don't "see" it anywhere in software. I thought about the firewall problem, but I know Subsonic configs the default Win7 firewall upon install. I've seen the service guys from comcast get into the modem configuration page through a browser before, but like I said, it's been so long I can't remember how they did it
