Android Client: Can I control subsonic via the lockscreen

Hello,

Is there any way to control Subsonic Android Client on the lockscreen (like the default music app)? Searching for "lockscreen" I only see a few feature requests.

Any help/workarounds/extra knowledge) would be appreciated.

Running Motorola Atrix; 2.3.4; SS Android 3.0.1

Thanks!

Not out of the box. For a program to display on the lock screen, it has to either be built into the OS or provide a completely new lock screen interface (like Songbird).

I personally use a program called WidgetLocker that lets you put widgets on your lock screen and then I use the Subsonic widget. The WidgetLocker program does cost a buck or two. This solution works quite well for me.

Thanks for the info. I feel like I could figure out how WidgetLocker does it and make a MOD, but alas I'm too lazy and will just buy their software. ;)

I can control Subsonic on the lockscreen on my CyanogenMod'ed HTC Evo. CM is a vanilla Android based ROM and it has play/pause next/back built into the lock screen that will control whatever music app is playing at that current time.

Hmm, interesting. I don't know enough about Android to say how CM7 is doing that...

Anyone else running a different model able to do this?

The Atrix's bootloader is now unlocked, and while the ROM I'm using now (more or less official ATT/Motorola 2.3.4) doesn't work hopefully another will (and/or CM7 gets ported).

CM7 is most likely broadcasting a generic media event and Subsonic is listening to it. There is actually setting in Subsonic to tell it to listen to these events or not.

I guess any manufacture could do the exact same thing and allow their lock screen controls to work with any program, but most I've seen limit it to the built in music app.
