Uncheck any transcoding defined for mkv. SS will then send it to the external player directly without transcoding.

Go to Settings/Players

Select the player that ypu defined to bring up your external player.

At the bottom under "Active Transcodings" uncheck the box "mkv > flv"

Click on the Save button.

Once that is done, whenever you use the defined External player to play an .mkv file, it will be sent directly to the external player without being transcoded.

Of course, your external player must be capable of playing .mkv files when you set it up this way. VLC plays just about anything, with WMP yo might need to download codecs.

umm i just tryed that but vlc

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'https://192.168.1.100:443/stream?player=1&pathUtf8Hex=443a5c446f776e6c6f6164735c4d6f766965735c417373617373696e73202831393935292e6d6b76&suffix=.mkv'. Check the log for details.

External players do not play well with https, try the http url or ip address.

I also can't get an externa; player to work in Chrome, only IE.

YMMV
