PLEASE read the sticky "how to ask for help"

Is the service running?
Have you checked what the SS control panel is saying?
What does the SS log file say?
When the server power failed it may have corrupted a file so you may need to re-install SS. :(

Use Subsonic a lot on my Android phone when in the country, when traveling and on wifi use the webinterface to enjoy my music. Works great, love it! Just this problem now is my first real issue. (Since 2 years)

Bump,

Sorry for the bump, just noticed somebody posted a new topic, but he has the same problems. Any update on a solution?

I didn't have a lot of time to experiment myself, so I was hoping that some expert could help out.

had a quick search and came across this...

Following the hint about the db folder, I had a look there, and found the file subsonic.lck, an empty file probably related to database locking.
I stopped the subsonic service, removed the file, and restarted. The 503 error was gone

I've had it a couple of times on my windows 2008 r2 machine... i just deleted the db folder and that sorted it but you do lose any additional users you've setup and settings...

I Stopped the service and looked in the db folder.
I could not find a .lck file. I did delete the complete db folder with contence and could, after a restart of the serice, reconfigure subsonic trough the web interface.

What could be the cause of this problem? Is it that SS does not close clean when rebooting or shutting down Ubuntu?
Can it be prevented by stopping the service manualy first?

Thanks anyway for the help so far. Finaly got my tunes back when on the road. :P

I'm experiencing something similar. My subsonic box has been running flawlessly for a long while. Alas, it was power cycle time to move some stuff around. Prior to disconnecting or moving anything, I did a controlled shutdown/restart of my ubuntu box that runs subsonic. It started up fine, subsonic service is running, everything appears ok, but no web interface (default :4040).

A little background - I'm probably the only person in the world doing this, but I'm running subsonic on a diskless ubuntu box. It doesn't really change anything, other than the boot-up sequence, but standard-issue default install directories, etc. To complicate things further, I stopped subsonic and started it again before rebooting, and the web interface was up.

I'm perplexed by what has happened and why no subsonic.

The contents of my /var/subsonic/subsonic_sh.log:

marlen@bonusroom:/var/subsonic/db$ cat /var/subsonic/db/subsonic.lck
cat: /var/subsonic/db/subsonic.lck: No such file or directory

Its definitely running... (output from a ps -ef:)

root 1811 1318 0 22:38 pts/0 00:00:00 sudo ps -ef

The service seems to respond properly to start and stop commands (sudo service subsonic stop or sudo service subsonic start).

How do I diagnose what might be going on here? I read another post about a database lock file (subsonic.lck) - It appears there isn't one on my machine...

marlen@bonusroom:/var/subsonic/db$ locate subsonic.lck
/var/subsonic/db/subsonic.lck
marlen@bonusroom:/var/subsonic/db$ cd /var/subsonic/db

Ok, a brief update tonight. After not changing anything at all, I started up my subsonic box. No web UI. Oh well, I'll come back later and look at it. I go get some groceries, do a few necessary things, come back to have a look and its up! I just need more patience.

Rock on Subsonic!!!
