subsonic not binding to port

Postby Erreth » Sat Sep 03, 2011 1:42 am

Hello all.

I'm trying to install subsonic on my ubuntu 10.04 server, but I'm having trouble doing so. I've follows the installation instructions to the 'T' but it appears like subsonic isn't actually listening to port 4040. Here is my log info:

Code: Select all
root@ubuntu-server:/home/corey/Downloads# more /var/subsonic/subsonic.log

I've tried explicitly specifying ports to bind to in the args, but that didn't change anything. All settings are default.

Another interesting thing, is when I nmap localhost, i see nothing about port 4040. For some reason, subsonic isn't binding to the port. Could any of you help me out with this? I'd really appreciate it!

I haven't got a ubuntu server so can not help much but it would appear that UPnP is not working correctly on your router so have you forwarded port 4040 in your router manually?

Yes, I have manually forwarded port 4040. But regardless, I can't connect to subsonic on localhost, or on my internal network.

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same problem - Ubuntu 10.04, same error in the log files. uPNP is enabled on my router, and I have also forwarded the port manually. Trying to connect to the server from any machine times out.

Any ideas?

Just to eliminate 1 possible error how are you trying to access SS?
Are you using serverIP:portNo?
Also check with http://canyouseeme.org/ to see if the port is open.

check to see if you have ipv6 enabled

might need to add the line

-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

in

/usr/share/subsonic/subsonic.sh
reverse

Hi, thanks for the replies.

I've added that line to the script and restarted the service, but accessing IP:PORT (as set in my /etc/default/subsonic file) still times out from both internal and external (including that canyouseeme website).

Output from /var/subsonic/subsonic.log:

Code: Select all
nick@odie:~$ cat /var/subsonic/subsonic.log
