Subsonic Forum

Hi all, I think I set everything up correctly, but using port 8080, I can only connect within my server internet explorar. Not from a client, I believe I set up port forwarding correctly in my router, and also opened port 8080 on my whidowshome server 2011 in windows firewall. I'm using subsonic 4.4 .war. Is there any way to check where the blocking is? I have not had this program working yet correctly but cant wait till it is

How are you trying to connect?
From another pc within your own lan you need to access via http://ServerIP:8080/?
e.g. copy what is in the SS control panel server address BUT replace "localhost" with the server IP address or server UNC name.
Have you registered your SS domain name yet? eg yourname.subsonic.org?

From another computer on my home network when I type in server ip:8080 get "internet explorar cannot display web page" Yesterday I was getting errors when trying to register, but just checked and It says "successfully registered web address" also now say "successfully forwarding port 8080" but when I use my main computer "using my new .org web address, still get same "internet explorar blah blah" Only way to get in seems from my server which is hosting otherwise I'm locked out, so I'm open to suggestions. One thought does port 8080 need to be open for out going, because I thought only port 80 was used for that. Maybe there are more setting in windows firewall that need to be made. I only created a rule.
EDIT I braved the firewall and turned it completly off, and it worked, so now my question can anyone help wth settings? I dont want to choose the wrong settings and open my server up to the world. Home server 2011 is based on Business server 2008 R2 so if anyone has it setup on either platform, any help would be greatful.

Add a rule (exception) to the firewall to open your designated port.

Solved I guess I set up the ruel to only use https on port 8080, which I would perfer, but it does work now . Thanks.
