I'm sure someone has brought this up before but I couldn't locate any info:

I have 2 media Folders:

1. Main Library
2. Private Library

Is there a way to hide the Private Library from certain users and give access to it to others?

If you look at the feature request section I think you will find that something similar to this has been asked for before
so I would suggest you place your votes there. The more votes the more likely it will get implemented (We hope )
With he relatively new advent of video to SS I agree that the issue of limiting certain users to certain folders, just on the bandwidth issue alone, is important.

You nailed it. I have a dozen or two friends / family members browsing my library. Yesterday I tried to set up my home movies on SS so that my mom could keep up with her grandkids through home video, but I **REALLY** don't want my home videos viewable by the world.

Nope, can't be done. I actually toyed with setting up a dedicated SS server just for her in a Solaris Zone, but decided that would be overkill.

Send her the share links of the videos - you can set the time duration for how long the share will last as well.
Just make sure you send her the correct links, you may have some vids you may not want yer mum to see
