Stupid newbie question: Does Subsonic require a web server?

Postby bvz » Tue Oct 11, 2011 6:17 pm

Hello,

Apologies for the really basic nature of this question, but I am unable to find out a definitive answer. I tried searching for "Apache" and "Web Server" but these terms are just too broad.

I am running an Ubuntu 11.04 server and would like to install a music server. I am not, however, running Apache (or any of the LAMP stack) and don't plan on running it. Does Subsonic require any of the above software to run?

Thanks
Ben

Yes it does but it comes with a default Jetty server. See http://www.subsonic.org/pages/installation.jsp#debian for further info.
Note it does require Java.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.
