Subsonic and Android

Really strange one here:

I am running Subsonic on my server no problems using https on 8084 and http on 8083 I have also set up port fortwarding to my external IP.

Problem is when I put my adsl external ip into subsonic on my android it doesn't work - nor does it connect in the browser. It just says cannot establish a secure connection. I have tried disabling https in the sysconfig and just running http, that didn't work either!?

Now before you tell me I haven't set up port forwarding - - It works if I access from a laptop outside the network in fact ive tried it on a few with no problems e.g. https://myexternalip.com:8084 - brings up the subsonic page and plays - great!

What is going on here - phone has no problems with connecting to other sites, I;ve started to think my mobile provider o2 is blocking it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated - This is the last hurdle to me ditching spotify!

Thanks for your quick reply!

yes - It works fine on wifi

It just won't connect over the O2 mobile phone network!? I have 4 bars HSDPA, everything else loads super quick on it?

Have you checked in settings (on Droid) and made sure that "WiFi streaming only" is not selected?
I haven't got a droid so no idea where it is.

Have you opened the HTTP port on your router as well? When using https, the connection is first negotiated over http and then redirected to https. Both need to be open.

Your SSL certificate is not signed by a CA and your phone is rejecting it?

It doesn't work on http either - I just get a white page.

https works fine over wifi on the phone. On other sites with self signed CAs it asks you to accept the certificate... this one just times out

FIXED!!

Sorry I'm a tool. I had taken the machine from work and it had iptables rules which only allowed a couple of external ips. Of course they were the ones I was using to convince my self it was working externally.

All working - sorry to waste your time!
