Shoutcast Internet Radio

Postby monkey » Sun Oct 16, 2011 4:10 pm

Hi,

Trying to get a shoutcast stream added to subsonic, but it's having none of it.

Is Subsonic capable of handling shoutcast streams?
Even downloaded the stations pls file which gets recognised as a valid playlist but refuses to play.... http://eastmanchesterradio.com/emrlisten.pls

Many thanks
Iain

I pulled it from here.

Hi Castius, thanks for the reply,

The stream is actually hosted on my VPS so I'm confident the link is correct,

The link I originally posted is actually an AAC stream, so I thought that may be the cause, but this is not the case because the MP3 stream also exhibits the same problem http://eastmanchesterradio.com/listen.pls
Both files play just fine in any desktop media player, and the MP3 stream works on the site's own flash player.

I'm looking for it to play in the built in player. JWPlayer does work with Shoutcast streams as I've had it hosted before

Won't use XMPlay as it's a Windows app, and we run mostly Linux here (although I've tested the stream on Ubuntu, Mac OSX and Windows all exhibit the same problem.)

It isn't going to put me off Subsonic, as there are plenty of other ways for me to listen to the radio stream, but it would be something nice to get working.

I'll plod on trying various things if there are no answers forthcoming.

Bit of a kludge but you could use http://dreamscape.fm/ to convert from pls to asx stream
I just tested it with your link and it appears to work ok.

EDIT: Here is the link I am using http://dreamscape.fm/?action=play&q=http%3A%2F%2Feastmanchesterradio.com%2Flisten.pls
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Hmmm.... That's still not working here

I can't understand why we should need to convert to an ASX file, which AFAIK is Windows Media, and we're running Ubuntu / OSX.

Even more so the fact that JWPlayer will play a shoutcast stream, but not when it's put through Subsonic.... hmmmmmm.....
