can't play ogg and flac

Hi there,

I just installed subsonic on my ubuntu 10.10 box and to my big surprise, the player doesn't work with ogg and flac files but works with mp3s. I disabled transcoding to mp3 for ogg and flac, tried to use the web played and jukebox mode but it still doesn't work.

From the /var/subsonic/subsonic.log file, in jukebox mode, there's a java exception saying that it has no codec for ogg and flac and in web player mode it does nothing, it says it's playing but there's no sound.

Here's an excerpt of the log:

I tried both chrome and firefox but it makes no difference.

My music collection is made of 99.5% of ogg and flac...

Can anyone help?

thanks

I had this issue as well. Make sure you do a sudo apt-get flac ffmpeg lame to get the three things I needed. Though I am using 11.10, that could be the problem.

Thanks for your answer. lame was not installed and it now works but only if i transcode to mp3 which is the exact opposite goal of what i was searching for :-( Guess i'll keep my plex media server up and running for a while since it doesn't need to downgrade music quality.

thanks anyway

Subsonic only needs to transcode if you use the WEB or jukebox player. If you use an external player you can stream the native files.
