[SOLVED] Lost WAN side access NO changes made. Ubuntu 10.04

So im not able to reach SS from the WAN side anymore, this issue suddenly appeared and it would happen at random. I decided to restart the deamon and same issue. I also restarted the server and it made it worse. After the server restart i was not able to reach SS with my domain name and port from WAN or internally, but via internal ip with port it does resolve correct. I thought it might be a firewall issue but no go, i disabled and restarted disabled and still no connection from WAN side. Ive taken my router off and with the server firewall disabled direct connect to mdm still not reachable. My mdm does not have any filters on it its a plain bridge. I do have 3 other server side web apps that I use and all are reachable on their ports with domain. Apache is runing and is reachable. My router is manually configured to port forward and trigger to my SS port. I am at a loss on this as i'm not familiar with jetty server to t-shoot that. Any help is appreciated. :D

System info:

Operating system Ubuntu Linux 10.04.3
Version 4.5 (build 2384)
Server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_20, Linux (58.8 MB / 120.0 MB)
Kernel and CPU Linux 2.6.32-35-server on x86_64
Processor information Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 330 @ 1.60GHz, 4 cores
:?:
After a restart and trying to connect this is all tha logs show.
Code: Select all

And just to be sure heres the out put SS conf /etc/default/subsonic
Code: Select all

Thanks in advance.

I forgot i did confirm the server is listening to the port, it shows it only listening to ip6????
Code: Select all
sm1:~$ netstat -l

Looks like you lost your NIC config.
Any updates with BIOS or OS?
I have seen bios turn off adapters when you take a wrong option adjusting BIOS settings or a power saving bug shut the Ethernet adapter OFF.
Can your server ping its own IP?
What does ifconfig show?

I double checked the NIC conf and its still correct, every other service on that server is reachable just not SS. No Bios changes or updates, I have no OS updates, but there was an update on java. Server can ping its self and i cant still ping it from LAN or WAN and via VPN.

UPDATE: Today the service is reachable, i did nothing that i thought would cause it work. What prompted me to check when i logged in my server advise me i had a zombie process, now i had turned off the service the previous day and forgot to re-enable. Once i checked my running process i noticed it was back up running. I checked again to the listening ports and to my surprise no tcp 4040 but tcp6 4040 still listening and i cant figure this out :?: :?: I'm hoping some one here will shed some light on this.

I figured this out
The issue was that when we added another android client the trial period of 30 days got changed, causing all WAN connections to drop. Once I updated to beta the dates got corrected after 24hrs ???? and got access to my WAN SS. If any one hits this and needs help feel free to PM me. But I suggest you get that key ASAP, i know i will !!! payday cant come soon enough!

Wow. So it sounds like the problem was never that there was no access from the WAN side, just no access from remote applications.

I bet if you had tried to access the subsonic WEB INTERFACE from the WAN it would have worked fine.

Live and learn... I always forget to ask if the application is licensed or not.

Yep but dont feel embarrassed Glenn
From the 3rd line of your helpful "HOW TO ASK FOR HELP"
Playback Application and version: (The end application that you are using to stream from Subsonic)

Its a pity not everyone reads it

Perhaps we should make an audio version and bundle it with Subsonic :?

No i actually lost all external access to the app including the web interface. I kept checking at work, from my phones web browser and i had 2 remote users at their homes also not being able to reach the web app from a browser. Even for a whole day i lost access from my LAN, that's how i knew i lost access in the first place. I use Webmin to manage other services on my server and allow remote users access to the media folder were we store all content to edit files as needed. That application and my Apache page were still accessible during this fiasco. We mainly use the web interface so it was a big deal to us.

On a side note im working on developing a webmin module to manage port/memory of SS and stop and start service.

And you were most probably using your name.subsonic.org address which is available to registered users (after trial period)

No i did not use a susbsonic.org address, i have my own domains to use. Plus the instructions provided were very clear and specific on how to use the service in the 30 days to try it out with a personal domain.
