503 Error Ubuntu 11.04 [Solved]

Hi!

I got a 503 Error as I load localhost:4040
I first had the beta 4.6, but I then installed the stable 4.5 with the same problem. The problem just occurred one day and have never happened before.

I'm adding a screenshot of how it looks when I load the page. I run Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit and have Google chrome as my web browser.

Here are my log files.

Thank you for sharing the screenshot of a 503 error :?
However a paste of your log file as per http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5506 would have been more informative.

I would have posted the logs and all that but this "web interface" that you want me to use is where I get my 503 error so not to be mean but how would I then find the "log files" ? I will give you any information you want me to but TELL ME WHERE TO GET IT. I am an active user on askbuntu (stackExchange and I know how to ask a good question.)...

your are supposed to get this log files from the website I can't reach. LOL

In your root directory subsonic folder subsonic.log. Post any obvious problem entries eg errors.
I would also suggest you check that the Subsonic service is running.

I have edited the thread header to attract Ubuntu users but you may want to search the recent posts in help as there has been a few problems recently with that OS due we think to a JRE update.

alvar.berglind have you by chance restared your server? It seems that after the java update SS needs to rebuild its DB from scratch, been testing this since others have had a very similar problem. So far an easy way is to remove a folder and let SS rebuild then re-add the folder and let it rebuild again. I've tested this theory so far twice with success. Give it a shot and hope it works.

Tell me the SPECIFIC steps so I can do it and be precise! I have rebooted my laptop twice since the problem started.

In SS Settings >Media folders there is a enable check box next to each share, i'm surmising you have videos on another directory other than music. Hope this make snece.

One thing you could try is to rename the subsonic root folder then try a fresh install.
kleverbear wrote: It seems that after the java update SS needs to rebuild its DB from scratch

That would certainly prove (or otherwise) that theory because SS will need to rebuild all databases and indexes.
