What is your music directory structure and what have you told SS where your media folder(s) are?
Also with a large collection like that check your memory allocation I would suggest at least 256MB.

Have you read the installation instructions? http://www.subsonic.org/pages/installation.jsp
Have you updated the search index? (settings/search)
After you update, your SS log should show the entries indexed.
