Unable to conenct from computer within LAN

Hello,

Please forgive the rookie questions, but I've run into a brick wall on this one issue. I'm able to access the url http://localhost:8080/subsonic from the host computer, but not from my other computers on the network (or outside the network).

From what I've read, I believe I need to forward port 8080, but when i attempt to do so, my router detects a conflict with a "remote management http server". Is there a way to use another port? Also, I see posts about using DynDNS. Is this required or only recommended?

Sorry again if these are basic questions, but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

thanks

Hi,

DynDNS and port forwarding in the router are only necessary if you want to access Subsonic over the Internet (i.e., away from home).

To access Subsonic from another computer on your LAN, try to use the URL http://XXXX:8080/subsonic, where XXXX is the IP address of the computer where Subsonic is running. If it doesn't work, check if you have a firewall installed on the server (for instance Windows Firewall). You might have to configure it to allow for incoming connections on port 8080.

Hope this helps,
Sindre

Ah, yes the problem ended up being the Firewall on the server. Once I changed the permissions for port 8080, it worked without a hitch.

thanks for the assistance!
