Unable to use network shares in Windows? 4.6

I'm attempting to get Subsonic to use a network share. If I specify it as a regular UNC path, ie \\SERVER\Music, or if I mount it as a regular drive, ie M:\, all I get is "No media folders found. Please change the settings."

:(

Using subsonic 4.6.

You may want to think about updating :?

Have you changed the service to run using a username and password that has access to the UNC path? The LocalSystem account (the default) does not.

oops, i meant 4.6. my bad. i've been ill lately, my head isn't always agreeing with where it thinks it is. :D

Umm.. I'll try that, though I'm pretty sure that that shouldn't make a difference for the mounted drive .. *goes off to have a look*

* edit: nope, does not work. tried NetworkService first, restarted, no go, then tried as the user that I've mounted the drive as, restarted, and no go.

Can you take a screenie of the media folders screen or at least put in here exactly how you have them?

Thanks

Just follow the instructions for setting the logon rights to the Subsonic service as explained in the tutorial posted in the link below.

Yeah, that is what I did, and still no love there. Just "No Music Folders"

I found the solution to this problem. You need to change the share permissions to allow "Authenticated Users" if the share is backed by windows. Once I did this, everything worked.

You also need to set up identical accounts on both machines with the same username and password.

eg:

Storage Server: admin - password

Subsonic Server: admin - password

Subsonic Service account: admin - password

All 3 need to be identical and admin - password has to have valid permissions to \\Music share on the storage UNC.
