glibc version causing playback problems?

Hi,

I am running subsonic on a RHEL vps server.

I have been having huge problems streaming to my iphone client i-sub. After posting on their forum some extracts from the log, the mod suggested that the glibc ver is not high enough:

[2011-12-13 21:32:53,282] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream - Starting transcoder: [/var/subsonic/transcode/lame] [-S] [-h] [--resample] [44.1] [-b] [256] [--tt] [Rococo] [--ta] [Arcade Fire] [--tl] [The Suburbs] [/var/music/Arcade Fire/The Suburbs/04 Rococo.mp3] [-]
[2011-12-13 21:32:53,423] DEBUG InputStreamReaderThread - (/var/subsonic/transcode/lame) /var/subsonic/transcode/lame: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found (required by /var/subsonic/transcode/lame)

In addition to the above error, I also see:

[2011-12-08 23:07:08,742] INFO StreamController - Got range: Range[0,9223372036854775807]
[2011-12-08 23:07:08,743] INFO PlaylistInputStream - admin3g listening to "Different Class/01 Mis-Shapes.mp3"
[2011-12-08 23:07:08,748] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream - Starting transcoder: [/var/subsonic/transcode/lame] [-S] [-h] [--resample] [44.1] [-b] [128] [--tt] [Mis-Shapes] [--ta] [Pulp] [--tl] [Different Class] [/var/music/Pulp/Different Class/01 Mis-Shapes.mp3] [-]
[2011-12-08 23:07:33,007] INFO RESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter - Authentication failed for user admin3g

So I investigated my glibc ver:

root@vps usr]# rpm -qa | grep glibc
vzdummy-glibc-1.0-1.swsoft
glibc-common-2.5-65.el5_7.1
glibc-2.5-65.el5_7.1

The odd thing is, is that web playback works flawlessy and some tracks play OK via the i-sub client. admin3g user has full privileges and the bitrate is restricted to 256.

Somebody please help as I am getting really frustrated with this program not working as it should.

I am having the exact same issue on CentOS 5.5 with the transcoding

DEBUG InputStreamReaderThread - (/var/subsonic/transcode/lame) /var/subsonic/transcode/lame: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found (required by /var/subsonic/transcode/lame)

I imagine a rollback of lame would fix the issue, however, I'm not sure if it would break the new way transcoding is handled in 4.6

Okay, a rollback wasn't required. All it needed was a properly compiled lame binary.

Here's how I fixed the transcoding problem:

Downloaded the LAME source code:
wget <link to lame source tarball>

tar xvf lame-3.99.3.tar.gz

cd lame-3.99.3

./configure

make

cd frontend

cp lame /var/subsonic/transcode

Hope it works for you!

Go here:
http://lame.sourceforge.net/links.php#Binaries

Find a place to download the newest lame binary.

Replace lame.exe in the c:\subsonic\trancode directory with the new one.

I frequently go find new copies of ffmpeg.exe for my windows home server... it helps, especially with multi-core transcoding.
