"Host name may not be null" in app

Hi,

I'm having some problems with the app.
If i'm at home on my own wifi it works great, but not from anywhere else. I know this sounds like a typical port forwarding problem, but the thing is that if I use my phone's (or any computer's) web browser and access the same address+port it works.
I have done some trouble shooting and confirmed with wireshark that the packets do reach the server when I klick "test connection", and it responds with the status "ok".
It would be great to know what the error message really means, which host name is missing?

Playback Application and version: Android app, version 3.3, on Galaxy Nexus with ICS 4.0.1.

Hey
I've got the same problem after updating from gingerbread to ICS android 4.0.3 on my HTC sensation. On WiFi no problems , but I can't connect on 3g. It is very very frustrating.

I have a license for subsonic but I am not able to use it now!

Please fix this

Using latest version of android app and latest version of subsonic. Nothing in log files about connection errors .
I tried to add a error screenshot but the forum is not accepting PNG files.

The Subsonic Android App is not currently built for ICS.

There is a beta that someone else has built that reportedly works...

If anyone else is affected by this then just go to Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks -> APN, select your APN and remove Proxy and/or Port.

Cannot access my server from Android phone. Not java 1.7!

I am running jre 1.6, windows 7 x64 on the pc, and the subsonic server is said to be running. On my Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE I have Android 4.0.4. The subsonic app apparently sees the default server, but not my server.

I cannot get my pc and my android to communicate. The website view has all of the correct paths for music and playlists. When I originally configured this pc there was no problem connection to my server and accessing data.

Now when accessing Open subsonic in browser, all I get is an error on the pc that says:
HTTP ERROR: 503
SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
RequestURI=/index.view

When attempting to access anything from Android device, I get the error message:
Didn't understand the reply. Please check the server address.

Nothing has changed on the pc or the phone since I had everything working. This issue has been occurring for approximately one week. Please advise. I enjoy listening to subsonic in my car. I live in a remote area and have better cellular data than over the air broadcasting. Thanks!

I have similar problem with subsonic apk for my Samaung Gallaxy S II.
With latest apk for android i get error (host name can not be null) when i try to connect with 3G. Thats strange because everything is configured properly, with WiFi works fine.
I have Android 4.0.3 and i didnt have any problems with previous version.
I also test this apk on SE Xperia Arc S with Android 2.3 with same carrier and everything works fine with 3G and WiFi connection.
Im confused.

This doesn't work for me. :(

Nothing works when I remove the proxy settings.
My guess is that this depends on your operator, if you really need to go through the proxy or if it's optional.

I can see that the requests reach my server even when using the proxy, but maybe the proxy is modifying something. I will try to compare the packets when I get home.

I had the same problem on OS 2.3 everything is OK, on OS 4.0.3 get that terrible error "host name may not be null" but after I remove proxy work like a charm. My guess is that proxy is optional for my carrier.
I use android SS 3.9.9 on SGS II v4.0.3 rooted, pure ICS 7.3 custom rom

I'm also seeing the same error when on 3g. It works fine over multiple wifi systems.

This used to work over 3g, but it no longer does. I can't remember which version used to work.

ICS 4.0.3 on HTC Sensation.

I just noticed in another thread that there is an issue with java 1.7.

I was running 1.7 on my server. Once I configured subsonic to run with 1.6, I can now connect over 3g.
