Streaming works on Windows, not in Mac?

Hey guys,
Just got this whole thing set up last week. Running great, kind of. I have Subsonic installed and running on a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. The computer runs all the time and acts as a server. So, I login from my personal computer, a Macbook Pro, running Windows 7 using bootcamp. Open up Subsonic in a browser and starts streaming. Works perfect. Restart my computer in Mac Snow Leopard, open up a browser and login to Subsonic. Attempt to start streaming. It is incredibly slow at buffering. Slow enough to keep me from being able to stream music.
My brother has a Mac, he has the same problem. My dad has a Windows PC. He has no problem at all streaming music. Just like I have no problem when I am booted into Windows.
Does anyone have any idea why I would be able to stream while in Windows, but not in Mac?
Thanks!

I really doubt this has anything to do with it, but I just started playing around with external players on my mac, and I can't get them to work properly. Not a problem for me though, because I use the web interface. Again, I doubt it has any relevance to slow playing on a mac, but maybe they are somehow connected.

Ya I dont understand it at all. It really should make no difference especially since it is just running in a web browser. Any other ideas or comments welcome!

How does other flash content run? Is it smoother? If it is every flash file, then we can narrow it down to a problem with flash on mac.
Also, this may sound weird, but what pane is the player in on the mac? On my Mac, if the player is set as an external player, and I click a cong to play in the playlist, it starts to load it into quicktime in the middle (main) frame. And it is very slow.

Ive got flash installed on all of the Mac's. I have tried it in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. Same results. Flash in general slows my Mac down to a crawl. Flash videos from youtube and other sites play, and generally load quickly, but if I do any type of multitasking while a flash video is playing, it starts to studder.
That said, I have tried Subsonic with nothing else running, just one browser window, no change.
I have tried in the webplayer on the subsonic webpage. It loads in the middle pane just like all the screenshots of subsonic on the website.
Have tried external player. Loads in itunes, same problem as webplayer.
Also tried external player with playlist. Same slow streaming.

Any other suggestions on this problem I am running into? Im willing to try anything. Is there a beta version of Subsonic I can try updating my server to?

Hi
I have a MacBook (old core2duo - 4gb ram) and I can connect fine to my subsonic, although my server runs on that so it may not be a fair test.
I do have Perian installed though which is a codec pack, it's free so maybe try.installing that?

How much RAM does your Mac have?

Same as you, old core 2 duo with 4gb ram. Do you think it might have something to do with the fact that the Subsonic server is running on a PC with Windows Home Premium? Im not 100% sure, but I think I remember someone telling me that one of the differences with upgrading Windows has to do with networking. Seems weird but may be a possibility, does that ring any bells?

Not sure what this could be, I'm sure Windows home premium is enough.

I would like to add to this. I can stream to web browsers on all platforms without issue (transcoding ALAC to .mp3). However, streaming ALAC to itunes (10.5.3) on OS X 10.7.2 (without transcoding) fails. If I open the same stream in VLC, it plays just fine (ALAC).
The stream also plays via QuickTime plugin in Songbird, but not directly in QuickTime player. Bizarre.
Subsonic is running on 10.6.8 server build 4.6 (2585)

I'm having this exact problem. Did you ever figure out how to fix it?
EDIT: Solved. My problem had something to do with Bonjour. I uninstalled all Apple products from the server just to be safe and reinstalled iTunes. Runs like a champ now.
