Username and password not valid [Resolved]

Postby bigPapi » Tue Jan 03, 2012 5:14 pm

My first attempt to set up Subsonic went wrong, and now when I try to log in I get the "wrong username or password" message.

I downloaded Subsonic-4.6.pkg for Mac. I run Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I have deleted and re-installed Subsonic several times and that has not solved my problem.

I would love to get Subsonic to work, and would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Making the assumption that you are using the default user name and password (admin - admin) then you have to make sure you delete the old database before re-installing.
Exactly where it is on a Mac I don't know but it should be something like \subsonic\db.
Delete that folder and re-install.

I first got on with admin-admin, then immediately tried to change both. Now, neither what I believe I changed the username-password to, nor admin-admin, will work.

The Mac version must behave differently, because I can find no "subsonic\db" directory, or anything similar.

You can't change the username of the admin account. So you don't have to worry about the username.

But instead of trying every password you can think of, just follow BKKKPewsey's advice and delete the db folder and reinstall.

Remember to write the password down once you change it

I would happily delete the \db folder if I knew where to find it. In Mac OS X 10.6.8, I can't find where Subsonic installed its files. I apologize for my cluelessness, but if someone who knows OS X could offer some advice it might prove helpful to me.

Try looking in "/Library/Application Support/Subsonic/ "
Something I picked up from an old post
I have also deleted a duplicate thread from the FAQ sub-forum
Please do not double post.

This suggestion worked. I don't know why the Finder search did not show the Subsonic files in the Library, but there they were, and once deleted I was able to re-install and have things running. Thank you. And sorry about the double posting, I first posted to the FAQ forum then thought that was probably not the right place.
