Artist name starting with a dot is ignored

I'm new to Subsonic (v. 4.6, Windows 7 64bit). I have successfully installed and configure my music folders.
However, I notice that any artist name (and hence the folder name) starting with a dot are ignored by
Subsonic and don't appear listed anywhere. The artists in this case are:
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
.38 Special
Is there a way to tell Subsonic to include such names?
Could it be Subsonic is treating anything starting with a dot as a directory entry
and hence ignoring the folder completely?
Thanks!

UNIX based systems generally create hidden files and folders that start with a dot. The dot indicates that they should be hidden. Mac OS creates hidden files (the famous .DS_Store) and linux also creates dotted files in addition to dotted folders.
My guess is that subsonic sees these files as hidden. I don't know how to prevent that behavior though.
If only a few files are affected, the easiest solution would be to change the file names.

Subsonic uses the Unix system of folders and files starting with a "." as hidden (think .htaccess)
Yep can be a pain at times
I normally just use quotes or remove the dots

EDIT bit of a cross post there

Thanks for the replies guys. I was actually hoping for a configuration switch since
I like to keep the artist name tags to what the artist itself intends and having
to rename/retag you mp3 collection isn't the preferred solution. I hope Sindre can
have a fix in a future release.
Thanks.

Note your ID tags should't need changing, its only the folder names and possibly filenames that may need attention.
I have the ID tags for The Trail of Dead with the leading "..." and this is displayed correctly in the playlist
