android app plays a few secs and skips to next song

after I updated to most recent version of the android app, everytime I try to listen to music (that hasnt already been cached) it plays a few seconds and then skips to the next song.
at first I thought maybe my car was doing somethig, so I repaird my bluetooth, unistalled subsonic app and resinstalled, deleted the player from the server, to no avail.
web version works, just android thats giving me problems. for some reason I thinking it has to do with android itself, am i missing a setting somewhere?
please help. making a nandoid backup and going to reflash my phone...keeping fingers crossed.
thanks

I have a similar issue on my Motorola Droid X2:
When I start playing a new album, I'll immediately pause the first song until it's completely cached. Then when I play it, it'll go about 30 seconds before skipping to the next song. I then skip it back and it plays fine.
A little obnoxious but workable.

figured the same thing out today.
really annoying.
is this a moto thing?
all my other friends on non moto phones have no issue.
got my phone in nov, swear it was working fine, but now it seems like atleast month since it worked properly, so possibly a moto issue?
at first I though it was playing faster than it downloaded, but confirmed that is not the case as mine was 2.5mb downloaded and only 15 secs into the song, when it skipped to the next song.
and the log (i posted above) shows no errors
peace

I'm having this same problem. Rooted HTC Inspire.
It may skip at the very beginning or it may be towards the end, but it won't finish a song.

Found this thread:
http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8307According to this, you can go into your subsonic server settings and change the android player type from "external player" to "web player" and it eliminates this problem.
I just did this and have played through a few songs with no skipping, so I hope this helps some of you too!

I'm glad it worked well for you.
It worked great yesterday, but today its hit or miss. It's definitely better, but occasionally it still skips through songs. But it's much better than it was.

There something definitely wrong with the Android app...I've seen 4 new topics, all slightly different issues...end result....there are many of us Android users experiencing problems...
I wish the ics version worked for 2.3.5, then I would have something else to try

Are you confident this is nothing to do with your MNO restricting your data usage? Perhaps run subsonic off a different port, even SSL, to see if encrypting your traffic makes any difference. Throttling and interrupting of web traffic is happening with increasing frequency in the UK/US to ensure QoS for other network users.

I've run it from home on WiFi and had the same issues. I can try it again, but direct it to the local node instead of my outside IP address to eliminate my home ISP as well.
Although this doesn't really make sense as the issue since Subsonic is actually downloading the files completely. They are there on the memory card and can be played. It just skips through them for some reason.

I'm confident its not a carrier issue.
As other users on the same carrier have no issues.... I think its more related to Android os....version 2.3.5
Same thing happens to me when on wifi....
