Samba sharing /var/subsonic folder?

I'm running Subsonic 4.6 (latest version) on a Fedora 15 machine, and I would like to be able to edit some of the webpages that are found in the ./jetty/2585/* folders (namely the link used to search for song lyrics), but due to my setup, I would need to access these files from a windows machine, where I have Adobe Dreamweaver installed to do the web page editing.

So I mapped /var/subsonic as a samba share, but when I map it on my windows machine, it tells me access is denied. I have two other samba shares on this same machine, and I can access those just fine.

The only difference I can see is the permissions, which is 655 (I believe) on the /var/subsonic folder, but is 777 on my other two shares (which are not accessible via internet).

I don't want to give 777 permissions to this folder, since it's accessible from the internet, but how can I "share" this folder to my windows machine so I can edit the web pages?

Thanks in advance!

Give it 755 permissions. Just keep researching samba on google and you will quickly become a pro. Don't worry, you'll figure it all out very very soon! :D

Still not working, I keep getting an error that the path can't be found.

First, you have to make sure to chown the files to your username on linux. The way I do it is "sudo chown [myusername] * -R" from the directory [subsonic].

I thought of that, but was concerned with the application being accessible if I did that. I guess I can always switch it back if needed...

Edit: OK, that did work! Now, how do I get to the part that searches for lyrics?
