Subsonic Forum

Having a bit of an issue. Using teamviewer which runs on port 80 just fine, but can't configure subsonic on that. Have tried ports 8080 and 4040 to no avail and was wondering what I need to do.
I'm using a cisco e2500 router and I just need to know what I'm doing wrong with forwarding. I keep getting connection time out. Running windows 7 64 bit.

First go to canyouseeme.org and check for two-way on the port you want subsonic to operate on.

Thanks. Got that issue taken care of now I can access subsonic outside of lan, but not on any other computer on the lan or wifi device for that matter. I have isub for my iphone and I switch to 3g and can stream all day, but nothing if I type in my address on any other machine in the house. I've got windows 7 firewall configured to private for all subsonic services. Do I need to change this?

Try changing it. Don't be afraid to play around with it a bit. Just remember what the settings were before you changed them.

Thanks I tried out changing all the services for subsonic to public and it still didn't work for lan. I'll go into the advanced firewall setting and see what happens. Any other suggestions?

Still not getting any in lan streaming. Have changed all services to public in windows 7 firewall and can't access it on lan except on the computer running the server itself.

Try turning off the firewall for a bit (not just setting the services to public).

Exactly what address are you typing in to the other computers?
Are you using your myname.subsonic.org address?

Same problem for me. Actually, I'm almost certain this is simply a networking issue, rather than something amiss with Subsonic, but here goes...

Can access Subsonic from the web browser running on the computer on which Susbsonic is installed. Can access Subsonic from my computer at work (over the WAN). Can access Subsonic from iSub so long as my phone is connected only by cellular.

Cannot access Subsonic from iSub when my phone is on the same LAN as the computer running Subsonic. Cannot access Subsonic from a web browser on the same LAN as the computer running Subsonic.

This is all new since earlier today, when I went away from using myname.subsonic.org to using the DynDNS service and port forwarding. The DynDNS-hosted URL is working for computers that are not on the LAN. To access Subsonic from off the LAN, I am entering myname.dyndns-remote.com:4040. That URL will not work when I am on the LAN.

What am I missing?

Try using the local network address and port number.

Initial research suggests that I need a feature called "loopback." However, it's not clear to me why my initial setup (http://myname.subsonic.org) was working, but my new setup (http://myname.dyndns-remote.com:4040) is not working.

Thanks for your comment. I guess one thing I need to be more specific about, which may not have been clear - I primarily access Subsonic using iSub on my iPhone. However, the myname.dyndns-remote.com:4040 URL does not work when my iPhone is on the LAN.

Further to your comment, as a solution (workaround?), I now have two servers listed in the iSub server entries - the first is the myname.dyndns-remote.com:4040 server (works on WAN, not on LAN) and the second is the internal (LAN) IP address of the Subsonic host computer (192.168.1.xxx:4040). That seems to be working, and may be all that I can do given my router's lack of loopback support.

I agree, it sounds like the router's the problem. At least you now have a workaround.
