HTTP ERROR: 503 REBOOT REINSTALL DOESN'T HELP [Resolved]

Hello,

I've been using subsonic for a long time without any issues and suddenly I get a HTTP ERROR: 503 when I try to access the page. I am running windows 7. I've deleted the subsonic folder, deleted all references in the registry, uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, everything.

My port is open and I can't seem to figure what to try next. I have no db folder nor is there a var/subsonic folder as best as I can tell.

Can someone give me a suggestion on how to fix this?

Thanks.

Refer to this post.

I had the same issue - running Windows vista and got a 503 error.
o Stop Subsonic.
o Remove c:\subsonic\db
o Start Subsonic.
You will lose your settings.

Be sure to keep the context path as /

Hope that helps.
Justin

I cannot find a subsonic folder in the c drive. There is one in :\Program Files (x86) but there is no db folder in it. I really want to get this running. I am running win 7 professional. I don't know the version of the program because it doesn't show anywhere. I cannot access it on the host computer not on the android app on my galaxy nexus phone. I am really annoyed because I paid for this program and it isn't working. Is anybody even working on this program anymore or is it a lingering antiquity? WTF does 503 mean?

Yep there is a forum here of 9000+ members all discussing a program that is not being developed :?
Bit pointless posting a question then

If you do not have c:\subsonic\db then the program is not installed correctly. All windows installs have that folder unless you do this viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9024

I uninstalled the program, cleared all references from the registry, and reinstalled version 4.6 freshly downloaded from subsonic.org. After the reinstall, there is a c:/subsonic folder. But I still cannot run the program without the 503 error. Even after verifying the service is running, I still cannot get to the service view in the control panel http://localhost/.

I appreciate your reply today but I don't necessarily appreciate the tone. The reason I wondered about the status of the project is that all of the posts I read about the 503 are dated long ago, there have been no updates on either the windows side or the android side. It was a great program when it was working, but it stopped working a long time ago and all previous posts have gone unanswered. Please give users the benefit of the doubt. Some of us are users not developers. If our money isn't as good as theirs, I'll gladly take it back since the program no longer works for me. Please take this in the kindliest sense in which it is intended.

Perhaps that is because generally it's caused by a corrupt database which thankfully is a rare occurrence. .

Your posts :? you have only made 3 and your 1st post was here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8606#p39152 on the 23rd March - a long time ago indeed.
The title of that thread was specific to the android app and not related to your problem so why post there?

Please read viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9278#p39352
SS is free but to take advantage of the premium features, such as accessing it using a phone etc, you can make a donation

The error I suspect is still due to a corrupt database because an uninstall will not remove it so now that you have found it
follow the instructions above eg viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8923#p37189

Thank you for your courteous reply. I deleted the db folder and successfully restarted subsonic. It is configured and plays my music on the host pc/ This is encouraging! When I try to play from my Android, I get a message that the trial period is over and I need to donate. I did donate, back in December, 2010. I have the license # I received at that time, but I can't find anywhere to enter it. Should I have another file on my android with the license, or perhaps on the host pc??

Kindly disregard previous note re:license. I found it and all is well, so far. Thank you.
