No m3u download

I'm running the trial of 4.6 on Ubuntu 10.04, it's a stock install apart from a couple of media directory settings and increasing the java memory allowance to 512Mb, obviously restarting after application.

Flash works fine for both music and video but I can't get any external player to work. I've read that external players require download of a m3u file in order to play.

I have tried external player with and without playlist control and "Control player automatically" and " active transcoding" both on and off.

When I choose external player and click Play the option changes to Stop but nothing else happens. No m3u download is even attempted. I've tried using the latest Chrome and Firefox on my Ubuntu laptop and IE8 on a friends desktop with the same results.

I'm not seeing anything in the log file although I can't find how to enable debugging.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

same problem as you have. External player not working at all. No matter of settings. Win7, 64bit, latest firefox. SS 4.6.

I just tested 4.6 with latest FF, Chrome and IE9 browsers and all three save a m3u file :?
I cannot think of any settings within SS that will stop that occurring,
so hopefully someone has had and solved this problem and can post a solution.
