Sound issue when playback on Android with SubSonic client

Postby Jey » Sun Feb 12, 2012 7:01 pm

Hi,

Sorry for my English.

Problem Description:
I have a new Samsung Galaxy S II G version (I9100G) under official Android 2.3.6 (non-rooted). The G version is the new version in France (and Asia from many month ago).
SubSonic is in the firsts applications that I have installed.

When I play music with SubSonic client (v3.3), I have always many cuts/stutter, and sometimes, skips.

Troubleshooting Steps:
- Trancoded files in cache are goods : I don't have issue at the same moment in a track if I play again + I don't have problem with the default Samsung's music player (if.. see after)
- If WiFi is ON, I don't have issue in the SubSonic client
- If WiFi is OFF and the screen go to sleep mode, I have issue
- If WiFi is OFF and the screen is on, I don't have issue
- If SubSonic's service is running (service, not application), I have issue in the default Android/Samsung's music player
- If SubSonic's service is NOT running, I don't have issue in the default Samsung's Music player
- I have this problem on the demo server, a friend's server and my own demo server
- A friend don't have problem with her Samsung Galaxy S 1 on my own demo server
- I have this problem with default MP3 trancoding or with OGG transcoding that I have added (Flac > OGG).

So, it's a phone/client's side problem.

Playback Application and version: Official Subsonic client, v3.3

Subsonic Version: 4.6 (build 2583) – 6 décembre 2011

Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_30, Windows XP (37,4 MB / 96,7 MB)

Hardware Platform: Windows XP32 bits

Java Memory Limit: SubSonic Agent freeze when I tried to open the Control Panel.

Output from ffmpeg -i:

I think your post is losing some information in translation and as it appears to be rather technical in nature
I think we can make an exception (This being an English speaking forum)
If you can re-post in your native language (which I assume is French) hopefully someone on the forum can do a translation for you. (And help :) )

With regard to your subsonic control panel - are you saying that when you click on the green headphones nothing happens?
It would also be useful to know what port subsonic is using
If you are using port 80 then I suggest you change it as that may be why your samsung music player is having problems.

On the server, SubSonic use the default port 80. On my firewall on external side, I use another port.

Yes, I Right-clic on the green icon in the systray, a little square window open, but empty. But it's not a problem, the problem is on the client, not on the server.

Same problems when I use SubSonic client on my Galaxy SII (G version, I9100G), with a new SubSonic server on a new hardware and fresh install (Win2003 server).

Especially with server 2003 as port 80 will conflict IIS - Try 8080

I don't have IIS.

If you read the first post, the problem is on the client, on the android phone (when online or offline playback).
An incompatibility with I9100G ? (hardware is different on G version)

If the phone doesn't work properly on the Subsonic demo server, it's not likely that there is anything you can do on your server side that will fix the problem.

We do know that Subsonic ver 4.6 has some track length estimation issues that are most likely to be resolved in the next version.

WE also know that as Android upgrades roll out (particularly ICS), not all implementations are going to play nice.

I currently use Subsonic ver. 4.5 for mobile audio as it seems to have fewer problems than ver 4.6.

PM me if you'd like to test your phone on a ver 4.5 site. If it works then all you should have to do is roll back to 4.5.

I have a user using a Samsung SII without problems.
