subsonic android app not connecting to server consistently

I have had subsonic running on my linux server for quite some time. I rarely have problems connecting with the web interface, sometimes I have to restart the service on the server, but that's maybe every few weeks. I have the android app on my samsung galaxy tab, and when it connects, it works great. However, I would say it only connects about 10% of the times I try. I have tried restarting the service on the server, but that doesn't seem to work. I haven't been able to diagnose what works yet. When I can't connect from the app, I can connect from the web interface, so I don't think it's a problem with the server. Anyone have any suggestions?

Do you get the same or different results connecting to other SS sites, such as the demo site?

Well, I can connect to the demo site while at the same time, I can't connect to my server. Guess that means there's something wrong on my server end? Poop. I still feel like the problem is with the app because I can connect to the server on my tablet using the web interface, so I don't think the problem is with the connection. Any other troubleshooting suggestions?

All troubleshooting is a process of trial and error that you have to design to eliminate possible causes of the problem. There are many factors that you have to isolate with Subsonic to get to the root cause of an issue. Connection problems can be disrupted anywhere along the communication pathway. Does the problem only occur within the local network when connecting over wifi? What happens if you try to connect over 3G or 4G? What's going on when you connect to other sites? PM me if you want to test on one of my sites and I'll send you a link.
With the limited information you've shared, it sounds like it's the server or your router that may be the cause.
Also, has anyone else been able to connect to your server without problems? That's the best way to determine if your tablet and it's apps are the problem, or if it's just the server. You first have to identify the source of the problem. My guess is the server, but testing your devices on other sites and having someone with other devices test your server is the best way to sort it all out.
Once you've decided where the problem is, then you can start digging deepre to find the root cause. Most often, when I've got a bogus server setup, I just uninstall and start from scratch to reinstall it. I uninstall SS,and Java, delete the C:\Subsonic directory, then do a fresh java install to the latest version, reinstall SS from a clean download, make sure flash is up-to-date, check that port forwarding is correct, and so on.
I use Windows, so I'm not a Linux expert, but there are some guys here in the forums that are very good with the Linux install that I'm sure will help you once you've isolated the problem, if it turns out to be the server.
