Suddenly and without any changes to my computer or settings, my Subsonic service won't "start." I open the Subsonic control panel and click start and it will not change from "Not Running" to Running. I have restarted my computer and uninstalled and re-installed the software. I am not sure where to start in figuring out what is going on...

Glad you got it going again. Could you share any details of what Java tweaks you made (and how). My Subsonic suddenly quit on me this week, too.

All I did, was go to the Java website and downloaded the most recent version and installed it again. I am not sure what happened that made it stop working but I didn't need to mess with any settings or anything. Let me know if this helps...

In regard to this issue, be sure of a few things:
1) if you are using an x64 architecture on windows you will likely need to install both 64-bit and 32-bit version of java for your system in order for the JVM to be recognized by subsonic
2) MAKE SURE your windows firewall will allow BOTH public and private networks to communicate with the Java SE Binary.
EDIT:
Another issue I encountered.. windows did an update overnight which brought this issue back, what I eventually did to fix it was go into the \Program Files\Subsonic directory -- right click on subsonic-agent -- select run as administrator
Appears to be a permission error, a temp work around I discovered is to close/end all processes subsonic then open/run the boot libraries jre file followed by 'run as administrator' on the subsonic elevated service agent or whatever.
Still playing with this crap. Major pain the ass.
