When I click 'clear' in the playlists section, my Windows Media Player opens up (without playing anything of course).

This is done in order to empty the buffer in the player. Otherwise, the player would keep on playing for a few seconds after you press 'Clear'.

I am only going to be using the web player, and not windows media player. Is there a hack to disable this popup?

Yes. Turn off this setting for your players:

Settings > Players > Control player automatically

Do i have to do this manually for each player? What if i have 50 users logging in from different IPs? Does that mean i have to go to each player and uncheck the "Control Player automatically" option?

thanks
Matthew.

Yeah, is there a way to make Subsonic default to having this box unchecked? If not, it would make life a lot easier for those of us with a bunch of users that like the web player.

Also make all functions webplayer based

Even after loading the flash player all functions you do to add or remove songs go back to playlist and then have to reload the webplayer. That is totally not functional and needs to be broken out so that if you say you want the webplayer as default, all add and play functions go straight to the flash based playlist and not the stream.
