Is it possible to use another video player? JW player isn't the best there is. I would like to use Winamp or something.

Is there a way? I've been looking on the internet for several hours, but with no luck.

Thanks!

You can use any player you like providing it can read the SS stream. Just use external player (with playlist if you want to skip).

I have tried VLC on my Android device, but VLC is only searching for VLC server... I want to use Subsonic...
Everytime i click on a movie file, the browser opens with the JW player. Is there a possibility to go to a external player in stead of going to the browser?

Settings > players > external
Then open the .m3u file with VLC

Thanks for your answer. I've done what you said, but it doesn't work on my phone. The music player of Subsonic is fine for me, but the movie player is crappy. The last minute doesn't play.

Is there a step-by-step tutorial how to use the other player funcionality?
What i want is:
- Open Subsonic
- Go to your movies folder
- Click on a movie
- The movie plays in an external player (Like Winamp/VMC etc) without going to the browser.

You want to stream video to your phone?! Ok. I thought you wanted to achieve something more reasonable ;)
I think you may be hitting the limitations of your phone rather than Subsonic. Streaming video to VLC on a low powered netbook works fine.

I think it is Subsonic. When you play a video file on VLC on a netbook, you use Windows or Linux. I use Android and it looks like Subsonic can't deal with this.

Bummer.. :-(

Do you know why the last minute of every video doesn't play? It looks like the video is fully cached on my phone...

No. You are playing a stream from subsonic which is played via VLC. The transcoding may be different depending on your external player settings. Can you see anything in the logs which may help you see what's happening.

But it isn't possible to use an external movie player with Subsonic on an Android device. That's the whole question...
