Can't establish a connection to server:4040

Ok, I'm finally back and working on getting all of the kinks worked out on my SS server. Kinks as in issues, not that awesome band from the 70's/80's.... :)

Every once in a while, whether I am local or remote, I will get a "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at gryphon:4040." error. Other services are still running on that server so I know it's not the web server. I can only assume it's Tomcat or whatever server is hosting SS since restarting apache doesn't fix anything. My current work around is to reboot the box, and when that happens, things come back up normally and I can listen to music. Now, it is a file server so I always loathe doing that...

Question - do any of you get the same error? What do you reset in order to fix it?

ps - I'm running Ubuntu server 10.10...

Rather then rebooting the box just try stopping and restarting the subsonic server.
And before you ask I am not proposing that as a solution but I'm trying to see which part of the process is "breaking"

It's such a sporatic issue, but happens frequently enough that I hate it. Next time it happens, I'll try that and post here. Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't realize SS was a daemon running that is started in the init.d folder....

Ok, here goes.... /etc/init.d/subsonic restart fixes the error.

Anything that I can do to troubleshoot and figure this out?
