Android App trial period for srvr over, no subsonic server

Postby Cavero427 » Wed Mar 21, 2012 3:39 am

I used the subsonic.org server for the length of the trial period and then decided to try a domain through no-ip.com after the trial was over. I can get the browser to connect using the new URL, and it plays everything just fine. But even though I updated the server address in the Subsonic android app, it keeps telling me "The trial period for the Subsonic server is over. Please donate, yada yada yada". Am I missing something? I thought the donation was just to use a yourname.subsonic.org address for your server. Is it also to allow you to keep using the android app? It's not that I'm too cheap to donate, I'm just not sure if Subsonic is the remote media app I'm going to stick with, and $15 is steep for an app I'm not sure I'm going to keep.

Any help is appreciated.

UPDATE: I tried a method someone else posted about renaming the subsonic.properties file to subsonic.properties.old and it seemed to fix it. I see the RestTrialExpires-android value inside the properties file increased. Did that just delay the amount of time before I hit this again? Anyone know what the format of that number is?

The donation is not just for the use of name.subsonic.org.
It also gives you access to the rest web services (used by all the mobile apps).
If you don't donate you can't use the mobile portion of subsonic

OK...now I see that bit on the Android Market. I guess I can always just use the web browser from my phone for now until I decide to donate.
