Connection Failure on Windows 7

Hi there,

I've enjoyed SS fantastically on my former laptop, HP Compaq nx6310, Windows XP SP3.

Recently I bought a new laptop, Acer S series i3 with Windows 7 home premium K, 64bit.
I intalled SS and tried to connect on my new laptop, but it didn't work.

I put static IP, changed port number, forwarded the port,
did everything that I can find on the forum that mentions about errors and failures.

My network status on SS local page goes well, reads "Status : myaddress.subsonic.org responded successfully."
But I can't access to the local page even with that address, myadress.subsonic.org, nor my.ip.address:port.

Ah, there is one difference in local page>setting>network>, below the private address blank,

With XP, it says "Status : Successfully registered web address"
With Win7, it says "Status : myadress.subsonic.org responded successfully."

What should I do to correct the error? My mobile device, Samsung Galaxy S2 says "Connection Failure : Length=32, region......"

This is usually a port forwarding error.

Go to

http://canyouseeme.org

and test to see if the port is actually open.

Did you allow subsonic/port through the windows firewall?

Also check what version of java you have installed (see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9202)

The Windows install sets the firewall automatically.

Canyousee me will tell us if the port is forwarded properly.

The next step would be to test his phone on a different site to see if it's a phone problem. He may just have a typo on the phone site settings.

Would tend to indicate the firewall is already open. It also indicates the port is forwarded correctly. Typo on the phone seems most likely.

Thanks for comments,

1. No typo. Furthermore, I can't open the local page even with my laptop (through my.ip.address:port# or myaddress.subsonic.org).

2. Port is verified to be open at both http://www.canyouseeme.org and http://www.whatsmyip.org.
When SS is not running, it seems to be timed-out.

3. Re-Installed 32/64bit java 6 several times.

4. Re-installed SS many times

5. Set in/outbound rules on firewalll

6. Removed Mcafee protection, just in case.

I still don't know what the heck is wrong with my settings.
Ironically, under the same router, I can run SS with my old laptop, with XP on it.
Thus, I think it's a matter of firewall or Windows 7 itself.

Please, let me get out of this mess!

You first have to get the local instance to run in the local browser on the host machine or you're going nowhere.

Make sure you do a complete uninstall of both Sunsonic and Java. Use Control Panel/Programs and Features to uninstall Subsonic and all Java entries. Delete C:\Subsonic

Start with a fresh Java install to the latest version. If you have Java already, uninstall, then do a clean install of the latest version. If you use a 64 bit browser be sure to get both 32 & 64 bit Java.
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

6.31 is the current version .

Then install Subsonic directly from the Sourceforg download.

If the Subsonic service won't run after that, you most likely have OS problems and may need to reinstall Windows unless you can identify and correct the problem by looking for clues in event viewer.
