connections from external keep failing after time

on my SS server, i have it setup for external access, however it is often not accessible via external. to restore access i have to logmein to the server, and stop then restart the SS service and instantly access is regained via external webbrowser. any ideas on how this can be fixed? doesnt seem to be anything with my network setup, (unless SS is somehow binding to the logmein hamachi interface and not the physical lan interface in the computer)

thanks

dave

How much ram does subsonic have access to? If it's less than 512 then try giving it more, sometimes if it runs out it can stall the service

My library is fairly large with a little over 4TB of data, about 4k albums and 52k tracks and a ton of video. I use 512 for the memory setting and have never had any problems. I've seen very few posts that would indicate that more than 512 was needed.

More likely from your OP it looks like the Subsonic service is shutting down for some unknown reason. I would look through event viewer to see if you can find any indications as to why this might be happening. In Windows, the service should be set to "Automatic".

As to logmein causing a problem, I assume SS and logmein are not using the same port?

thanks, i agree never had a problem with it until a coulple mos ago, i suspect it could be some update that has destabilized it. it is still running now with increased memory limit for what that's worth. i had looked in the logs and found nothing to show problems, and also when SS stops responding to external connection it still shows green and running.

yet another ghost to run down....
