donated a few days back, can't get it to work outside the network, setup port forwarding for port 80 and 4040,(also tries port 90) portforwarding.com has a great guide for my serial # uverse router, setup static IP, I know the IP the computer tells me that it has an static IP the ip is the same yet when I go to a see my IP site it gives me an IP that I never seen before,(a public IP) its always the same with means is static and it does not change, but why is it that the ip I have set for my computer turnes into another IP when I check it online, and I belive that is the IP that the subsonic seez when I try to access it from outsite the network. Once I set an IP to my computer should that be the same IP that I should see when I access a seemyIP site, or will the outsite internet see the router IP? is my computer ip the same as the public IP?

A quick read of the help pages on this forum should give you all the info you need.

Knowing your OS would help

Use http://canyouseeme.org to check your port forwarding and also use the yourname.subsonic.org address.
As far as your external IP is concerned, unless you have set up a static IP with your ISP, then it may well change.
The subsonic.org address will take care of that.

been thru most of the tutorial in this and other forums that I can find, the latest one I did was the change of DHCP, after changing it now I lost total access to my router settings page,
I sure wish this application would be easier to set up, this sounds like a great application for some and a very big headache for others like myself, I used to have zumocast and tonido, install and works of the start, no donations, subsonic is the first application of its kid that I have donated for and regret it.

I appreciated any help, not sure where to go from here,
I believed that most of my problem had to do with me having a modem and after the modem I have an individual wireless router, so I changed that and connected my computer directlly to the uverse modem, however now I can not access my uverse modem setting page and I am kind of stuck, any help will be appreciated it, thanks Emil

I think it could help slightly if you posted the IP numbers you believe you have (computer, router, modem, what's on showmyip.com), or at least the first numbers, like 192.168.*.2

That would give an idea of which IP numbers are internal and which are public and what you should try to achieve.

I can post all my numbers but how safe would that be, and which numbers should I post, IP & subnet?, will do when I get back home, thanks for trying to help.

Did you read the second post in the tutorial section listed above.

Setting up Subsonic is easier on some systems than others due to the wide range of equipment and configurations possible.

You do need to have some familiarity with your network and some understanding of basic network concepts, but we have more than enough instructive material and experienced users here to help you get up and running. On of the benefits of setting up Subsonic is how much you will learn about your home network.

Please take the time to read my complete post a few times and get back to us with any questions you still have. 99% of the time the new user has trouble configuring the router to get the port forwarding right. You'll never get SS accessible from outside if you can't confirm that the port is open from canyouseeme.org. That has to be done if you are to go any further.

Let us know what kind of modem and router you're using so we can look at the manuals.

Your host pc should be seeing an internal address such as 192.168.1.X

If you seeing somethig else on the local host like 169.254.0.X

then your DCHP isn't working properly. You may find a router/modem/pc reboot helpful.

when I go to canyouseeme.org my ip shows as, 99.32.36.xxx , and it can not see the port 80.

when I go to my at&t uverse wireless router settings page the ip address shows as 192.168.x.xx.

this is what I can not understand,

I used the Portforwarding setup static ip address program from portforwarding web site and now is say that my ip is static,
y is the ip different in my router settings page than the public ip, and does that matter, and to reply to the previous comments I just reboot the router and the computer

the subsonic its trying to reach the 192.168.x.xxx in port 80, without success, it works fine over wife, but not on 3g

Problem Description: wifi access only, no 3g access
Troubleshooting Steps:I have changed the ip to static ip with the software from portforwarding web site and I forwarded ports based on this tutorial(http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... ault.htm#S ). I dont know what else i should try.

99.32.36.xxx is your EXTERNAL ip address assigned by your ISP.

192.168.x.xx. is your INTERNAL ip address assigned by your router.

forwarded port 8081 to the computer and changed the subsonic port saved it and stopped and restarted the subsonic, still no 3g access

99.32.36.xxx is your EXTERNAL ip address assigned by your ISP.

192.168.x.xx. is your INTERNAL ip address assigned by your router.

so what what you can tee it sounds normal right, the ip does not change,

Do you have a model number for the AT&T Uverse? I se this as a combination modem/router gateway device. Is this the only router on your network?

Do you know how to access the router's management pages?
