How to import WMP Playlists?

Postby Al13NCRY » Sun May 06, 2012 6:42 pm

Hi Guys,

I´m really fascinated about Subsonic. It works perfectly!! Good Job!! (I use it with android and pc)

But there is one little problem I have ...

I try to import a wmp playlist, but it doesn´t open when i click load in subsonic/localhost . I saved the playlist as ".m3u" .
So I tried to open the playlist i made with subsonic with wmp (wich actually works) and saved it with wmp (same name / overwrote it),
after this it didn´t work, too.
I opened both playlists (i made two with the same songs, one saved with subsonic and one saved with wmp ; both as ".m3u") with editor/notepad
Subsonic:
Code: Select all
#EXTM3U
C:\Users\MYNAME\Music\8Bit\10800 Zombies Theme.mp3
C:\Users\MYNAME\Music\8Bit\The Super Mario Song.mp3

WMP:
Code: Select all
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:0,10800 Zombies Theme.mp3
..\Users\MYNAME\Music\8Bit\10800 Zombies Theme.mp3

#EXTINF:0,The Super Mario Song.mp3
..\Users\MYNAME\Music\8Bit\The Super Mario Song.mp3

Is there any possibility to import the wmp playlist without changing the code?
Maybe another playlist format? I tried ".pls" but this didn´t work with both players.

PS: After changing the code wmp read it as normal playlist ... it worked with both players.
PPS: I´m using Windows 7 and i´m admin (in subsonic, too)

Code: Select all
..\Users\MYNAME\Music\8Bit\The Super Mario Song.mp3

This is a relative search path. I'd say the easiest thing to do if you need to import a playlist like this into Subsonic is open it with Notepad, and search/replace ".." with "C:" (in this case).

Playlist Import/Export is on the todo list for being added as a feature in a future release.

A decent text editor will do that in one hit "search and replace all" - done

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Even Notepad has an automatic search/replace nowadays. Open your WMP playlist, press Ctrl+H, and use the "Replace all" button. You'll have a working playlist within seconds.
