iSub app working over WIFI and not AT&T

Hi,

I have iSub installed on my iPhone and the service only works over WIFI and not over the network, so I cannot use the app when I am driving because I get an error that the server is down. Ironically, when I first started using the program I had the opposite issue, it would only work over AT&T and would generate the same error message when WIFI was turned on. Has anyone else encountered this issue and has anyone solved it? I appreciate any feedback regarding accessing iSub over a phone carriers network

Thanks!

Go to http://canyouseeme.org and check to see if the port assigned to the SS server is open.

How do you have the server set up? Is it configured with a private IP address (192.168.x.x), or a public IP, or even a host name? If hostname, is it your own domain (or through a ddns service like dyndns or no-ip?), or is it a Subsonic address (xxxxxxxxxx.subsonic.org)?

Music is loading Extremely slowly on SS and on iOS device

Hi,

This morning when I started subsonic it could baely load any songs, I was on full service on 4G but still could not load. Songs kept poauing and then playing ten seconds and then stopping again. I figured it was just my phone but when I got to work the same thing started hapening on the onine version of SS. I can't listen to a song without it stopping 20 times to load.....any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Probably bandwidth. Whats the upload speed from the server?

Are you using it on mobile? 3g? from outside.

I have everything set as Unlimited, I was trying to Install the LAME software to limit the download speeds of my friends user account, but I have to wait until I get home. I am running subsonic from my Laptop, is that not powerful enough to deliver prompt downloading?

Sorry not the most tech savvy

thanks!

I would suggest check your upload speed - if the problem has suddenly appeared it may due to your ISP doing some "engineering work :? ".
Also check your SS log and see if that is showing any errors eg a recent update not playing nicely.

Also please do not double post, you already have a thread running with this issue.

It all depends on the bandwidth at each end. Upload speed from the server and download speed at the laptop. If your on a 56k modem at the server, it won't handle 320kbps mp3 going out very well.

I recommend doing speedtests at both ends:

http://www.speedtest.net/

Use the server at Clifton, NJ for the most consistent measurements in the US. the ping time is very low and I always see my rated bandwidth very accurately.

Once you have established an end to end connection, if there's a bottleneck, you have to examine all the factors through the chain to see what the problem is. If everything works inside the network, then clearly problems outside are most likely bandwidth related. In a work environment, other users on the network can use bandwidth load that is shared with you. Are you all on the same pipe? Through the same switch? What are you listening to? MP3? Flac?

What kbps is the server sending out at?

Some business environments have packet inspection protocols in place that can slow things down, Have or are you using an SSL connection? SSL packets sometimes work better in workplace settings as the encryption prevents packet inspection.

Have you tried connecting from a different setting? Have you tested, connecting to Sindre's demo server or another known good server at work? I can let you connect to my server if you want from work to see if that works. That would let you eliminate you work network as an issue. I'll send you the link on a PM.
